  • Part time consultancy for minerals engineering and minerals equipment marketing.

1991 to 2015. Outotec - Dewatering Business Line (former Larox)

Business Manager – Mining & Metallurgy. 1999-2006, and 2008-2015.

  • Market Research to identify filter requirements in mining applications globally.
  • Strategic planning, consultancy and support to Outotec regional offices globally for mining industry filter applications.
  • Evaluation of filter applications; recommendations for filtration testing, test data analysis, filter selection and sizing, filter plant layout recommendations, and capex/opex estimates. Filter evaluation considers the whole process upstream and downstream, including effects of grinding and flotation performance, and transport or smelter specifications.
  • Site visits for filter performance evaluation and optimisation.
  • Extensive involvement with market penetration and subsequent filter business in Southern Africa including platinum in South Africa and Zimbabwe, copper in Zambia, DRC and Botswana, and nickel in South Africa, Zambia and Botswana.

Managing Director – Larox (SA) Pty Ltd. 2006-8.

  • Restructured the South African and Zambian operations.
  • Built a competent and motivated team.
  • Exceeded sales budget and achieved record results.
  • Introduced practices to comply with Safety and BEE legislation.

  • Interim trouble-shooting role during regional reorganisation.

  • Opened Larox office in UK and created an £8M market in the chemical industry.

  • Secondments to group operations globally for trouble-shooting or commissioning.
  • Member of the Olympic Dam development team; metallurgical manager and relieving general manager of Agnew Nickel; manager of the coal-gold agglomeration pilot plant; gold plant commissioning in Canada; metallurgical testwork management in Brazil.

  • Commissioned new gold and uranium plants safely, on time and within budget, and managed production after start-up.
